Rhetoric students recently read and discussed an article by Martin Luther in which he argues that the Christian schools in Germany at his time must teach the biblical languages. At one point in the article, he says this:

God commands the believer to put on the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:14). The breastplate is a vital piece of equipment, given that the organs which the breastplate protects are vital, especially the heart. The heart is a vital organ.
