“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16
As the leaves change and the weather cools, I find myself growing thankful for cozy clothing, warm homes, and comfort food. Fall is a time for taking stock of all we have, giving thanks to God, and then in return, sharing with others.
This year at Bloomfield Christian School, we have an opportunity to give back to those in need outside of our community, while fundraising for our school that has consistently proven to be an abundant blessing to the community.
Students will raise money for our big “Feed the Need” event which will go towards the cost of the food, packing materials, shipping and also the needs of our school.
What will this unique fundraising/service project look like?
On November 30th, our entire community- staff, students, parents, and teachers- will participate in an indoor Packing Party to fill boxes with rice, grains and beans that will be shipped around the world to Christian organizations and orphanages.
The event is exciting and filled with energy, balloons, news crews and upbeat music. Of the 10,000 meals packed that day, 1,500 remain for local distribution and 8,500 are distributed overseas directly to children facing extreme hunger.
Every student K-12 has a role, whether that is scooping food, measuring the contents, or labeling and moving boxes. As a community we will work together to bless others, because we have been so blessed.
To kick off this event, tonight, October 19th, come to the gym at 6 pm for a chili cook-off, hear a brief presentation to learn how you too can participate in our fundraising/service event followed by square dancing, and some moving testimonials about how God works through this school to change lives both inside and outside of the community!
In this season, what a blessing it is to feed the needs of others! Watch this short video to learn more.
