This is the third installment of our video series with alumni. Our Headmaster, Trenton Leach, did a video conference with Mackenzie Dickhudt who majored in Economics at Hillsdale College and continued her studies in economics at George Mason University located in Virginia. She is currently employed as a research analyst for a non-profit organization. She shares her perspective on her time at our Bloomfield Christian School and how it has impacted her.
In the last three years at Bloomfield Christian, students take Bible classes such as Hermeneutics, Doctrine and Apologetics as part of their graduation requirements. Mackenzie discusses how the content in those classes laid a strong foundation in her future academics.
Next Mackenzi shares how the rigors of the secondary classes such as Logic, Latin and Rhetoric helped her in college. She notes that the intellectual aspect served her especially when having discussions with classmates with whom she may have disagreed.
Our secondary students (7th to 12th grade) participate in a yearly school-wide event called Speech Meet. They are asked to prepare a memorized portion of a speech or literature in a competition against their classmates. Teachers serve as judges and announce a winner for several different categories. Mackenzie explains how this event prepared her for future experiences that required speaking in front of others.
Our students attend a weekly chapel service in addition to taking Bible classes from Junior Kindergarten to 12th grade. Mackenzie talks about how her Bible knowledge deepened her faith and the Christian teachers fostered close relationships as mentors.
