2017 Summer Reading Lists

In order to read The Great Books, a student needs to first read “good” books. Bloomfield Christian School has compiled a list of good books for your student’s summer reading enjoyment.


Grammar School Reading Log

Kindergarten – 6th Grade Students should record minutes read each day. Reading logs will be collected on the first day of school.

Kindergarten Literature List

Kindergarten students are required to read a minimum of one hour and thirty-minutes minutes per week (1 hour and 30 minutes) throughout the summer. Students (Parents) should complete the Grammar School Reading Log, which is due the first day of school.

Grade 1 Literature List

First Grade students are required to read a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes per week throughout the summer. Students will complete the Grammar School Reading Log, which is due the first day of school.

Grade 2 Literature List

Students entering Second Grade are required to read a minimum of one hour and thirty-minutes per week (1 hour and 30 minutes) throughout the summer. Students need to complete the Grammar School Reading Log, which is due the first day of school.

Grade 3 Literature List

Students are required to read a minimum of thirty minutes a day, five days a week (2 hours and 30 minutes a week) and complete the Grammar School Reading Log. The Grammar School Reading Log is due the first day of school.

Grade 4 Literature List

Students are required to read a minimum of thirty minutes per day, five days a week (2 hours and 30 minutes a week) and complete the Grammar School Reading Log. The Grammar School Reading Log is due the first day of school.

Grade 5 Literature List

Students entering Fifth Grade are required to read two hours per week throughout the summer. The reading selections listed in bold type are required reading selections. Students will complete the Grammar School Reading Log, which is due the first day of school.

Grade 6 Literature List

Students entering Sixth Grade are required to read two hours per week throughout the summer. The reading selections listed in bold type are required reading selections. Students will complete the Grammar School Reading Log, which is due the first day of school.

Dialectic School Required Summer Reading (7-12)

Students are required to read the following selections and complete the accompanying note-taking graphic organizer. Each student will receive a literature assignment grade for reading and completing the note-taking graphic organizer. Students will turn in the note-taking sheet to their literature teacher on the first day of school.
